Set The Bar

Cookies and tracking

Version 2026-10-21 · Effective 21 October 2026

This notice covers what the Set The Bar app and website store on your device, and the tracking they don't do. It's required by the ePrivacy Regulations (S.I. No. 336 of 2011), alongside our Privacy Policy.

The app: no tracking, no advertising

The app doesn't track you across other apps or websites, doesn't use advertising identifiers, and contains no advertising. That's why it never shows Apple's "Allow tracking?" prompt.

What the app stores on your phone

These are strictly necessary for the app to work, so they don't need your consent:

WhatWhyHow long
Your sign-in session, in the iOS KeychainKeeps you signed inUntil you sign out
A copy of the spots you've looked at, and Your spotsSo the map works with a poor connection at the parkRefreshed as you use the app; your own parts are removed when you sign out
Sets waiting for a connection (the result only, never the video), and a copy of your HistorySo a set logged without signal isn't lost, and History opens offlineA waiting set: until it's saved, or 30 days. The copy: refreshed as you use the app, and removed when you sign out
Which camera you last used, front or backSo the next set starts on itUntil you delete the app

Neither is in the app yet. When they are, each stays off until you switch it on, and its software isn't even started before then. You can switch either off again at any time.

The website

The website (yousetthebar.com) uses no analytics, and its fonts and videos come from the site itself, so nothing is fetched from anyone else unless you accept the cookie below. One cookie is optional, and stays off unless you accept it in the website's cookie banner:

WhatProviderWhyHow long
The Meta Pixel: the _fbp cookie, and Meta's own cookies if you use Facebook or InstagramMeta Platforms IrelandTo see which of our ads on Facebook and Instagram bring people to the website, and whether they join the waitlist_fbp: 90 days. Meta's own: see Meta's cookie policy

The banner appears only while we're running ads. If you accept, your browser tells Meta that you visited the page and, if you join the waitlist, that someone did. It never sends your email address. Meta can link this to a Facebook or Instagram account you're signed in to. For collecting and sending it, Meta and we are joint controllers; what Meta does with it afterwards is covered by Meta's privacy policy.

You can change your mind at any time with Cookie settings at the bottom of the website. The website remembers your choice in your browser's storage (not a cookie), so it doesn't ask again; that's strictly necessary, so it needs no consent.

Our website is hosted by Google (Firebase Hosting), which receives your IP address with every page you load, as any web host does.

If you join the waitlist, your email address is stored as described in the waitlist privacy notice.
